Consultation on UK Family Migration

Those of you who are here (or plan to come to the UK) on a Family Visa should read this consultation for proposed changes to family path migration.

These changes include:

  • 5 year minimum requirement for ILR (currently 2 year)
  • minimum income threshold
  • Removing ILE
  • Restricting amount of spousal visas
  • Requiring a ‘balance of attachment’ to the UK

This will effect those of you who:

  • Plan to join a parter, spouse, parent or child in the UK
  • In the process of joining a partner, spouse, parent or child in the UK
  • Already in the UK on a unmarried partner, civil partnership, fiance, marriage or family visa
  • Are a UK citizen who plans to have their non-EU family member join them in the UK, or are already residing with their non-EU family member in the UK
  • Are a UK citizen who’s family, friends, or tumblr buddies ;) are planning to migrate, or already present on a family based migration route.
