Keep Calm & Look at the Helicopter Crash

Apparently my husband was on the train at Vauxhall station during the helicopter crash this morning.

The driver comes on the announcement: “We will be held here at Vauxhall. As those of you on the left hand side of the carriage may have noticed, a helicopter has just crashed next to the platform.”


Related: I am not calm enough to be a train driver. “Everybody panic & freak out! Do you not see the massive fireball next to the train?! We are all going to die!”

Lest you think living in London during the Olympics is glamorous, here is a list of ways in which I have have been woken up in the middle of the night: scraping down road to prepare for bike race repaving road to prepare for bike race hanging Olympic themed bunting down the high street putting up parade guardrails for the bike race (4 days early?) low hovering military helicopters (I think) practicing Thank god I was up before those bells this morning, or I would be convinced that this whole international event was conceived as a unique form of sleep deprivation torture.

Spend £1.5 billion building The Shard, then open it with the worst Dark Side of the Moon laser light show in history. I can’t believe I actually waited around to see this last night. The only good thing about this show was the 6 hours of outdoor day drinking I did prior. BTW London- THIS  is how you are supposed to do it
