UK Family Immigrants: Get Involved Tonight

Today the new family immigration rules come into effect including: a new income requirement of £18,600 for people wishing to sponsor a spouse or partner (upwards of £24,500 if there are dependent children) to come to the UK and an extended period before spouses and partners can apply for settlement in the UK. (see this link for a comprehensive pdf)


If you are already present & settled in the UK, or know someone who is/ intending to be an immigrant- you can come to Parliament tonight to hear some MPs discuss the changes and even make your voice heard.

You can get a free ticket here and even if it won’t change politicians minds, at least you get to sit in the Palace of Westminster and see democracy in action.

On 10on10 (My day yesterday)

If my Blackberry had been posting photos properly yesterday, my 10on10 would have went something like this:

Breakfast for scones before chores. Then a long walk around the city.

Starting from Westminster.

Then wandered around til we stumbled on Ben Franklin’s House in London.

And had poutine with the most expensive PBR ever (£3.50 = $5.60) at the Canadian bar.

Then it was Cinnabon, the longest bus ride home, Curb Your Enthusiasm & Toblerone.
